Looking for a shade tree that loves our desert heat? Consider a Mesquite tree. Mesquites trees (Prosopis species) are an extremely hardy, drought-tolerant plant. Once established they do not need a great amount of water. Mesquite trees grow quickly and provide valuable shade in our Southern Nevada climate. It’s been said that grasses, shrubs and ground covers grow better in association with Prosopis species, benefiting from shade provided.
